Using this website with a disability
Short version: every page here should work by keyboard, with a screen reader, zoomed in and on a phone. If one does not, tell us and we will sort it out.
The standard we hold the pages to
Newhall Kitchen Remodel aims for Level AA, the middle of three tiers in WCAG 2.1 (short for Web Content Accessibility Guidelines). In practice that means readable contrast, text you can enlarge, a label on every form field and pages you can move through without a mouse. We treat it as a goal we test against, not a badge we claim.
How the pages get tested
Each time we publish a change, a scanning tool named axe first combs through all of our pages on a phone sized screen and again on a desktop sized one. Its newest report listed zero serious or critical findings.
A tool like that cannot catch every snag a human hits, so we plan to go through the site ourselves with only a keyboard, then with a screen reader turned on. We have not done that review yet.
Reporting a snag
Pick the contact form with "An accessibility problem" chosen. Give us the address of the page and the thing that blocked or slowed you. Mention your phone or computer, browser and any assistive tech only if you care to; those details let us recreate the snag.
If the form itself is what does not work for you, phone or text (661) 592-2348 instead.
What happens after you tell us
- You hear back from a person within 2 business days.
- We aim to have the problem fixed within 45 days. Should the fix take longer than that, we explain the delay and name a new date.
The contractor's side
This website introduces Newhall homeowners to a California licensed contractor. The quote, the contract and any portal or app the contractor uses are the contractor's own; a barrier in one of those is theirs to fix, so tell them about it.
